Integral Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Clinic

Project Overview

An existing house is to be converted into a physiotherapy clinic with its structure and internal divisions reconfigured to the new program.

A new relationship between interior spaces and an outdoor garden is sought through the removal of the east and south façade walls, which are to be restructured and refitted with full-height retractable windows. A hanging jute ceiling guides patients through the space, creating a warm environment with a local material from the state of Chiapas. The project was proposed in three phases, with the first involving the refitting of interiors with minimal structural changes, the creation of a new patio in a second phase, and the addition of a new level in a third phase.

4D Planning

The project was delivered to the client through construction documents and detailed cost calculations. A 4D model (considering tridimensional geometry and changes through time) was created with all the constructive elements. This was fed through a workflow from Rhino 3D - Grasshopper - Excel, which computes cost calculations with changes on the 3D model.

Detailed drawings were produced for various construction tasks, including adaptations to the structure through demolition, reinforcement of existing foundations, and the reconfiguration of reinforced masonry walls. This involved detailed tracking of the state of the structure with the addition of new construction elements in various stages of the project.
